Monster @ Angels top 10 list of inspirations for monsters & Angels

Hello I would like to welcome  Author Anne Marie Andrus  talking about her  monster & Angels. Top 10

Hi, I’m Anne Marie Andrus and I want to thank Passion for Books for hosting the Monsters & Angels blog tour!
Writing a novel can be a painstaking, stop-and-start process for some authors while others can breeze through a first draft in weeks.

Regardless of the writer’s time frame, all stories are born with a spark of inspiration. For the novel to be finished and presented to the world, that spark needs to become a blazing bonfire.
Here is my Top 10 List of inspirations for Monsters & Angels:

10. SuperStorm Sandy – I began writing Monsters during the months after Superstorm Sandy. So many of my friends and family had suffered devastating losses and the New Jersey I grew up in, seemed to have disappeared.
As a night shift worker, I struggle with seasonal depression every winter. In 2012, I felt that darkness pulling me down like  a serpent from the depths of the ocean. I decided to “write a story”, while my husband gutted and renovated the kitchen.

9My patients – During my thirty-year career in healthcare, I’ve had the privilege of meeting many amazing patients and their family members. I’m constantly inspired by their stories of life, love, loss and beating the odds

8. Michael Easton –  I’ve been asked, If your novel was a movie, who would you cast in the leading roles? I’ve never answered this question publicly. My Pinterest board is so private…I can’t even find it. I want readers to form their own vision of my characters from descriptions, dialogue and storyline.
I’m breaking the rule, just this once!
Michael Easton has been one of my favorite actors on daytime TV for years. He’s played a copon One Life </ span>To Livea vampire on Port Charles and several doctors on General Hospital. He is so incredibly and perfectlyDr. Raimond Banitierre.

7. My family – My husband’s family has been visiting New Orleans for over forty years. After Scott and I got engaged, they brought

me along for my first visit. And so, it began…

6The Witching Hour  The Witching Hour is the first Anne Rice novel I ever read. I was instantly captivated and swept into the

magic of New Orleans. When authors and readers speak of the “setting as a character”, Anne Rice’s New Orleans is what they mean.

5My co-workers  I’ve spent countless hours, weekends and holidays with my hospital co-workers. I consider them family. I’m constantly in awe of their passion and dedication. My main character, Sorcha Alden, is a nurse and my novel is based in a busy New Orleans hospital.

4. The Originals – I faithfully watched The Vampire DiariesTrue Blood and now Midnight Texas, but my absolute favorite vampire series is The Originals. I’m incredibly sad that Season 5will be the last—I may need to write another “story”.

3Dark Chandeliers – In the night, nothing is more enchanting and inviting than a lit chandeliertwinkling through a window. During the day, nothing is more foreboding and mysterious than that same chandelier, darkened and lurking overhead.

2Nottoway Plantation – The white ballroom of this beautiful plantation on the Mississippi River inspired Raimond Banitierre’s regal fortress, Normandie Hall.

1. New Orleans  Since the first time I visited New Orleans, I’ve been captivated, enchanted and hopelessly obsessed. I don’t know if it’s the magic, the music, the people or the air…
I live in New Jersey, but my soul is at home in New Orleans.

After all that, my renovated kitchen is fabulous and the story is Monsters & Angels!

Fledgling nurse Sorcha Alden knew she had the skills to save lives, but she never dreamed that her own life would be the one in danger.
Driven by tragedy to honor her family name, Sorcha embarks on a journey that takes her from the bleak but familiar streets of New York, through the sultry and seductive city of New Orleans, and into the brutal jungles of Nepal. Forging friendships and carrying on her mother’s mission of healing was her dream. Plunging into a love affair with the mysterious Dr. Ashayle could have been a fairytale.
Being murdered and waking up as a blood-thirsty monster—became her living nightmare.
Torn away form a life that had just begun, Sorcha returns to New Orleans as a newborn vampire, forced to start over in a cutthroat underworld of devilry and decadence. Complicated politics, bitter rivals and jealous ancestors stand between her and the promises she’s still determined to keep.
In a realm where the boundary between good and evil is as murky as the Mississippi River and immortal does not mean invincible, will Sorcha ever risk

her shattered heart and love again? Can the magical harmony of the Crescent City give her enough courage to fulfill her eternal destiny?

requires more bourbon. She has been known to attend sporting events just for the flyover. The boat she and her husband christened Glory Days, is her escape from the chaos of everyday life.
The inspiration for Anne Marie's debut novel, Monsters & Angels, is her fascination with vampires and her passion for everything New Orleans. When she isn't writing, she can be found working nights with the critical care team in a busy trauma center.
