The Lonely Review

The Lonely

The truth is subjective to what the lonely lets in.

Emalyn Spicer has lived with it for a long time. She thinks it goes back further than her memories do. She knows it goes back further than the OCD.

When she arrives at college, her OCD's and the lonely refuse to let her have her wish to be normal.

When she meets Sebastian and starts to fall for him, she lets herself believe it's possible to outrun the things chasing her from the past. But how to you get away from the things inside of you? How do you run from yourself?

Just as she gives up and succumbs to the lonely, the unthinkable happens. She finds herself once again trapped in the dark, once again held against her will.

This time she meets the lonely head on. In the darkest corners of her mind, she discovers there is more to her world than she ever imagined. She discovers that the lonely was there for her, protecting her from herself and her secrets.

How far would you go to find yourself?

This is a dark and captivating novel, tread lightly

One word WOW! Tara Brown is by far one of my favorite authors the way she can put words to paper is somewhat poetic and I love that about her but..... this book caught me off guard I knew or well thought I knew what I was picking up but I think other then one or two other books I have read in the past this book was pretty freaking twisted! I get Em's OCD I get her rough life and the weight she bares from actual reality of her childhood but the way she is bamboozled is when my wow factor went into overdrive and my heart was pumping and I litterely could NOT set this book down!! I honestly cried for her and I'm not just saying that the water works done messed up my makeup while reading The Lonely. Also I really do love the title and the meaning behind it once you meet Em and start seeing things through her eyes "The Lonely" is some place I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemies. As twisted as I found this book to be I truely did enjoy reading it. The Lonely may be set down by a few but I am here to tell ya STICK WITH IT! I really wish I had more to read asap like a book for each character! Each of their back stories would be pretty wicked to get my hands on. Taras research into the subjects in this book was awesome PTSD is something that always fascinated me. Enough of my words though, go read be happy sad and WTF all at the same time! ;)
