I would like to welcome Cambria hebert  today to talk about all of the hot valentine Gifts and we love to no  what your buying  Cambria take away

Most Popular Valentine Gifts

So back in December I made a quick run into my local Kmart (we have an awesome Kmart here) and I just wanted some last minute stocking stuffers for my family for Christmas.

I went through the store, and turned down the aisle where all their Christmas items had been sitting since before Halloween (yes, I’m serious) and started skimming the displays for what I wanted.

Except I got confused (okay, I admit this might be a regular occurrence) where I was expecting to see candies and tinsel and bows there were bins full of stuffed monkey’s holding hearts, mugs declaring love and racks of candy hearts.

I stood there, stupefied not really understanding where the heck the monkey’s had come from and wondering if the ate all the snowmen and reindeer.
A woman with a shopping cart happened by and saw me standing there, with what I am sure was a look of genuine confusion on my face and she laughed.
Her laugh brought me out of my stupor and I said to her “Is this valentine’s day stuff?”
She was like “Yes, it really is.”
I was like, “But it’s not Christmas yet.”
She shook her head as if to say “What can you do?”
And I went off in search of the Christmas items which had been relegated to a single isle behind the new Valentine’s day stuff.
It baffles my mind that companies are putting out holiday stuff WAY too far in advance, making it hard to enjoy one holiday without having the next one shoved into our faces. It baffles me even more that I have found if you don’t buy your Valentine stuff early it’s all picked over when you do actually go and get it. (Note: at the time I am writing this it is almost Feb. and I still haven’t bought valentine’s items for my family. Guess I’ll be getting the outcasts of the merchandise this year and you know what? I don’t care! LOL).
Anyway, the point of this post was not to tell you that I get confused too easily and also become extremely annoyed when shopping (although now you know both) it is to tell you the most popular Valentine Gifts that people give.
“According to statistics released in 2008 by American Greetings, the gifts most often given were these (in addition to greeting cards) are:
·         Flowers: Roses remained the most popular, with more than 189 million roses produced and sold especially for the holiday.

·         Conversation Hearts: Nearly eight billion conversation hearts were sold to people wanting to find the perfect way to say, “I love you.”

·         Chocolate: More than 36 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate were sold to consumers.”

Judging by what I saw in the aisles at Kmart and since then Target, etc I would say this is typical and true.
Frankly, I’m just relieved to see that their all NO monkey’s on this list. LOL!

To give you an even better idea of how many people are buying what I also found
some interesting statistics on the art of giving on Valentines' day:
According to to U.S. Census  bureaus' 2006 report. Americans celebrate the holiday in various ways, and many Americans select more then one way to mark the occasion:

Greeting cards: 65 percent
Plush Toys: 21 percent
Romantic Dinner: 44 percent
Perfume/Cologne 12 percent
Candy: 38 percent
Jewelry: 11 percent
Flowers :3 percent
Gift Cards: 29
Other Gifts 17 percent

How many want to take a guess that the “Other” gifts that 17% of you are buying are influenced by the book 50 Shades of Gray….. LOL!
Oh, please…. Tell me you weren’t thinking the same thing.
But I will say there is ONE thing MISSING from this list: Books! Books make great V-day gifts!
So what about you? What are you hoping to receive? What are you planning to give?

Valentine's Day in December...ugh. I so agree it is wrong to haul out the stuff that early. I despise those heart candies. They are so nasty. Anyway thanks for putting together such a fun post!

OMG! You sound just like me! I was on your blog doing a giveaway and I seen this and started reading and I couldn't stop reading it and I was like, I have to comment on this because I hate when stores put stuff out way before its needed. And when I go to buy stuff for whatever holiday it is, just like you said, Everything is picked out! I hate that! Then I feel like I have to buy what I need right away because it will be all picked out later. We should all go on strike or something! lol Oh and when I do buy to early then my kids find the bags of gifts and I'm like great! now its all ruined! And the "other gifts" yeah we all know what that is! That's what comes to my mind. lol Thanks for the awesome post! I had a lot of fun reading and commenting.
