Guest Post and giveaway by Nancy Straight

Nikki, thanks so much for inviting me to your blog today!! Let’s see, what would your followers like to know about me? I’m not all that exciting of a person, but I’ll try to describe myself in non-boring terms. I LOVE Starbucks’ White Mocha Latte and Mountain Dew, (but not together). I have a lead foot so I set cruise control when I drive, even in 25 MPH zones. I almost never win when I play Angry Birds, but have my 8 year old close, so he can clear the hard levels for me. I grew up on a farm and am opposed to eating fresh chicken (not opposed to meat - just opposed to any meat that was alive a few hours before lunch). I am a huge fan of the show, Big Bang Theory, on CBS. I have a stray cat that I feed every night and morning but she’s never let me get closer than within 3 feet of her –I keep thinking eventually I’ll wear her down and she’ll let me pet her. I share my life with two fantastic sons, three rotten dogs and a husband that I adore.

I’ve written four books, Meeting Destiny, Destiny’s Revenge and Destiny’s Wrath are a trilogy available from all bookstores electronically and in paperback.

My most recent book is Blood Debt. It is the first book in the Touched Series. The genre is Young Adult / New Adult Paranormal Romance. The story is about a twenty-two year old girl, Camille, who lives in California. Her whole life it’s just been her and her mom. Just before her mother took her last breath, she told Camille who her father was.

Camille finds her father and is welcomed with open arms into his family in South Carolina. Camille is a character I think we can all relate to; she’s witty, smart, genuine and could easily be your friend, or sister, or cousin. I love a strong heroine and Camille’s got strength in spades.

Camille is thrown into a mythological world, she’s unwilling to accept at first, or second, or even third glance. Eventually she comes to realize there is far more to the world than she had realized. There’s a very sweet romance in the story, very “forbidden fruitish.”(Is fruitish a word? LOL!) I’m not sure if it’s okay to have a crush on a fictional character, but I’ll double-dog-dare a reader not to fall for Drake the way Camille has!

The story’s title, Blood Debt, is tied closely to the plot. I don’t want to give away any spoilers for anyone who hasn’t read the book, but I can safely say Camille learns her life may be payment for a debt her mother left unpaid. The story is very original, although I love werewolves, vampires, fairies, and angels;

I really wanted to write a series that was unlike any other. Rather than create some sinister creature, I incorporated Greek Mythology throughout, while the main characters are Centaurs. I know what you’re thinking, but these aren’t the Centaurs you’re imagining – I promise.

As far as what’s next for me, November 15, the sequel to Blood Debt will release. It’s already written, and is going through final editing now.
Nikki, I’m so glad you invited me to your blog! I’m thrilled that you enjoyed Blood Debt and hope some of your followers will give it a try. If anyone out there would like to connect with me, I love to hear from readers and receive recommendations from other book lovers!

Blood Debt (Touched #1)

Her whole life, it had just been the two of them. Before her mother’s last breath, she gave Camille the information she had craved her entire life: the identity of her father. Daring to contact him, Camille was welcomed by an entire family she never knew existed. But nothing comes without a price, as she discovers when her family claims a legendary heritage tracing back to a centaur touched by Zeus.

As she learns the secrets of her Centaur bloodline, she is drawn into a forbidden love with Drake. Her life may be the blood debt required to pay for her mother’s transgressions. The same person who once held her mother captive, and forced her into decades of hiding, now controls Camille. Her only chance is to seek a piece of her mother’s past that will win her freedom and the life she desperately wants
